Harry Kramer

1925 Lingen – 1997 Kassel

Representative of “Kinetic Sculpture”. First one-man exhibition “Mechanisches Theater” at Galerie Springer, Berlin 1955. 1957/58 where he designed his first “Automobile Skulpturen”. Participated at the Festival d’art d’avantgarde, Nantes, France 1957, “Mouvement”, Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam and Moderna Museet, Stockholm, 1961, documenta III, Kassel 1964. Professorship at the Kunstakademie, Kassel 1970-1992. One-man show at Haus am Lützow Platz, Berlin 1964, Gilman Galleries, Chicago, Landau Gallery, Los Angeles and Loeb Gallery, New York 1966, Kunsthalle Mannheim, 1969, Haus am Waldsee, Berlin 1989. His work was shown in many international exhibitions such as: Museum Bellerive, Zürich 1974,“Championnat International“, Quebec 1979, “1945-1985 Kunst in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland”, Nationalgalerie, Berlin 1985, Tate Gallery, London 1986, „Maschinen-Menschen“, Staatliche Kunsthalle, Berlin, 1989. Elected into the National Academy of Design, New York 1994.
